A long time coming…

YUMA, Ariz. – After falling through a year ago, it was finally “game on” for the the much anticipated exhibition soccer match between the Xolos de Tijuana and Monarcas de Morelia; two premier Mexican league soccer franchises.

What else made the match intriguing was one of it’s coaches. Former Mexican National Team Coach Miguel “El Piojo” Herrera is the head coach for Xolos.

The first half was mostly in the control of Tijuana, as they put much pressure on Morelia; keeping them pinned on their side of the pitch with the exception of a couple of quick runs. But regardless, both teams couldn’t put in any goals by the half.

The early part of the second half saw Xolos break through first, with a goal by Paul Arriola. But Morelia would tie it later in regulation bring the score to 1-1; and that would ultimately be the final result of the match.
